New albums are going to be raining pretty soon. Already the koko master d'banj is blazing things up on the radio with mo gbono, olorun ma je, and kimon. The response has been electrifying i mean-"haba" it's D'banj- African Micheal Jackson. Don't be mad ya'll really because he described himself that way and he was not wrong at all. D'banj is one dude i know puts out a song and it's gotta be a hit! Damn! On my show, his songs are been requested for like "every time". I gather his album is titled "entertainer" which seems appropriate knowing it best describes him. I particularly can't wait for the album to drop.
I also hear it will also be album release time for Kefee, Segun Obe, Weird MC, Kween and Azadus PWeety soon. I would have said it would be a hard time picking from these lot but just remembered it's just N150(lol!).
Well there some albums just out sha, heard Mr kool just got out his album and guess what? He now calls himself THE BRIDGE na wah sha! IRMC!
The Abuja-based boy band Styl-Plus is back. And better. And that is the title of their second (some might say third) album. The first single in about, well, four years, the group had to overcome rumors of break-ups and squabbling within the group and between the group and the label.
After a lot of deliberation, the trio decided to make that the introductory single because "first of all, most of the groups broke up after their first album and second, they've been quiet for a while.. But then, dem still dey o!" In the four years since they've been away, they've been extremely busy setting up for the sunset of their lives. According to Tunde, "different people were doing different things. Shifi and I floated their recording/ management companies. In addition Shifi went into the real estate business, I have some investments in agricultural, and Zeal started his building/ contracting company."
Shifi continues. "With the new album out, there's less attention on individual projects until we've done our touring and promotion around the country, Africa, Europe and America. When we're satisfied that we've spread it as far as we can, then we can give more time to other things. So for now they are in the back seat!"The theme of this album has taken a dramatic turn from the usual love songs that Styl-Plus became popular for. Zeal explains. "The main reason for deviating from the regular love songs is for variety of content, to avoid sounding monotonous from album to album".
Meanwhile, the group has been constantly berated for the quality of videos it parades. As a result, the group has decided to raise the bar with the videos for songs on this album. To this end, they will be working with "a totally different set of directors to work with on different songs."
The Back N Better album was released prematurely by the company responsible for the marketing and distribution and the primary distributor. It was released about three weeks to a month before its original release date without Styl-Plus knowledge and before the group had time to properly promote their lead single, 4yrs. Legal action was contemplated by the group due to the drop in quality of the first batches produced and the possible negative publicity that the short period of initial promotion might have resulted in. But in a bid not to cry over spilt milk the group has decided against going to court over the issue and would rather concentrate on touring and future promotion. The group personally calls this album "The Controversial Album" based on the controversy surrounding both the recording and release of the album.
Styl-Plus first shot into the limelight in 2003 with the smash hit "Olufunmi". They followed that up with "Runaway" and "Call My Name" which established them as one of the biggest R&B acts in Nigeria.
Well PWWeety soon hit-maker extraordinaire 2face Idibia who we gather is in the studio working a collabo with R.kelly (pied piper of R"n"B) is set to shelf his baby drama and release his third solo album. 2face who featured Beenie Man in the remix of his hit Mfana Ibaha is hugely expected by to steal to the heart of millions of fans internationally.
His reputation has been in a bad shape in recent times (baby drama wahala, baby mama1 vs baby mama2 vs baby mama3, non-stop media yabs-sorry factual bashings) so he would need this album to warm his way back to the hearts of the fans. He should also keep it in mind that he has got competition!
